Yuma Regional Medical Center's critical care services include the Intensive Care Unit and two Post Anesthesia Care Units.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Patient-centered care is the cornerstone of YRMC's modern 42-bed Intensive Care Unit, which covers a wide range of specialties, including surgical, cardiac and pulmonary care. It is staffed by critical care-certified doctors, also known as intensivists, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A hallmark of YRMC's critical care program is its teamwork approach. Each morning, the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals meet to exchange vital information and develop a detailed care plan for each patient for that day.
Because it is important for patients to have the support of loved ones while they are in intensive care, the ICU staff develops a visiting plan for each patient based on their individual needs. In addition, the waiting room contains computers that family members can use to stay in touch with friends and relatives and take care of other important tasks.
