SONORA SUNSET (YRMC Employee Housing) 3751 W. 24th Street, Yuma, AZ 85364

Five Star certification by Arizona Multihousing Association. Criteria includes good customer service, maintenance of buildings/grounds and safety. Member of Yuma Crime Free program helping to keep illegal activity out of our employee housing and property. All adult (18 yrs or older) residents must have successfully completed a criminal background check before occupancy in YRMC housing is permitted. Employee must submit the YRMC Employee Housing Application and the Non-Employee Background Check Application (for other adult residents). See links listed below. The basic housing information and FAQ's on the website should answer most questions you might have regarding your new hire housing benefits.

YRMC Employee and Non-Employee applications (REQUIRED) are online and are emailed to the employee..

Sonora Sunset, one of YRMC's employee housing communities, is located just 1 3/4 mile west of the hospital. Most employees are assigned housing at Sonora Sunset, however, depending on availability, alternate housing may be provided. We make every effort to obtain clean, safe housing comparable to Sonora Sunset. Amenities may vary slightly.

Basic Housing Information.

PROVIDED HOUSING OPTIONS FOR ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES:

1 Bedroom - Furnished only. $200 deposit
$100 Security deposit (refundable if no damage) $100 Maintenance (non-refundable). Payroll deducted. Taxable Benefit - $750 per month.

2 Bedrooms - Furnished. $200 deposit
$100 Security deposit (refundable if no damage) $100 Maintenance (non-refundable). Payroll deducted. Taxable Benefit - $900 per month.

2 Bedrooms - Unfurnished - Limited, inquire on availability. (Includes: Microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer & large kitchen appliances). $200 deposit
$100 Security deposit (refundable if no damage) $100 Maintenance (non-refundable). Payroll deducted. Taxable Benefit - $800 per month.

AMENITIES (FURNISHED APARTMENTS) Furniture includes living room, dining room, bedroom sets. Range, refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, washer/dryer & shower curtain is provided. Some amenities may vary if placed outside of Sonora Sunset. All apartments are provided with basic cable and phones with local service.

SUGGESTIONS OF WHAT TO BRING Pans, dishes, kitchen utensils, coffeepot, toaster, broom, linens (queen size at Sonora Sunset), towels, iron/board, TV, alarm clock, cleaning supplies vacuum, etc.

HOUSING BENEFIT TAX According to IRS regulations, the value of the rent subsidy you receive as an employee of Yuma Regional Medical Center is considered to be taxable income. To comply with this rule, we must post the value of this subsidy to your pay and collect taxes on this value.

NOTE: Temporary housing provided for up to three months for hard to recruit positions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What steps do I take to receive YRMC housing?

  • First, review the Yuma Regional Medical Center Housing Information and FAQ's.
  • Review the basic housing information such as options, amenities, suggestions on what to bring and much more. Our website will answer most of your questions. Floor plans and a virtual tour of Sonora Sunset (YRMC Employee Housing) are also included
  • Be on the look out for an email which includes all forms.
  • Complete and submit a YRMC Housing Application (REQUIRED) to initiate your housing arrangements

Do I need to fill out an application? Yes, a YRMC Housing Application is REQUIRED.

Can I have family or guests reside with me? Yes, any adult (18 years or older) must be registered with the Sonora Sunset office.  Any adult (18 years or older) requesting to reside in YRMC housing over 2 weeks must successfully pass a criminal background check before occupancy.  A minimal fee of $25 will be payroll deducted for this service. Family and guests are not considered "the tenant" and can only occupy the housing with an employee receiving the housing benefit. The YRMC housing staff will email information and applications to you or they may be downloaded from the website.
Non-Employee Background Check Application

Why do all adults have to successfully pass a background check? YRMC housing is a member of the Yuma Crime Free Program and has Five Star certification by Arizona Multihousing Association. Criminal background checks raise our standard safety for you, family and friends.

Will I be assigned housing at Sonora Sunset (YRMC apartments)? Most employees are assigned housing at Sonora Sunset. However, if Sonora Sunset has no availability, you may be placed in a different location. YRMC makes every effort to provide housing that is comparable to Sonora Sunset, however, some amenities may differ.

When can I check into my apartment and how do I pick up my apartment key? You can check in within 5 days of your hire date or the day before your physical. Make arrangements with the Housing Coordinator for check-in instructions. After office hours and weekend check-ins will be accommodated.

Do I need to arrange for utilities such as electricity, water, phone, cable and internet? No, YRMC pays for the utilities and these services have already been connected including a phone with local phone service. Only basic cable service is provided. Additional cable or internet services may be arranged by you at your expense. Please inquire with the Sonora Sunset staff for more details. Please note, if you are not located at Sonora Sunset, these services may vary.

Are pets allowed in the housing provided by YRMC? Pets allowed in individual housing only. 1 bedroom apartment - Limit 2 pets. Pet Deposit - $200 required ($75 refundable if no damage) $125 kept for additional cleaning & maintenance. 2 bedroom apartment - Limit 3 pets. Pet Deposit for one to two pets same as above. Deposit for three pets is $400 ($150 refundable if no damage). No dangerous breeds allowed, per Manager's judgment, such as: chows, pit bulls, rottweilers, doberman pincers, wolf breeds or any breed with aggressive behavior. Carpets/upholstery is cleaned, deodorized, pet hair/spot removal as needed. Please inquire with the Housing Coordinator BEFORE arrival. Violation of Pet Policies could affect your housing benefit.
Pet Residency Application

How do I get my apartment security deposit back at the end of my assignment? The security deposit may be refundable after the keys are returned and apartment/contents are left clean and without damage upon inspection by YRMC housing staff. Refunds are included in the last pay check or sent to address on file.

If I move into YRMC housing am I obligated to stay the full three months of my provided housing? No. Just notify the Housing Coordinator of the expected vacancy date as soon as possible.

May I lease my YRMC housing after my provided housing has ended? Only if there is availability. Inquire with Housing Coordinator for availability and rates.

When do I receive my relocation check? Relocation will be in your paycheck.
