Nursing Units

Medical/Surgical Services
Yuma Regional Medical Center medical/surgical units deliver a high level of patient-family centered care by ensuring that nurses spend as much time at the patient's bedside as possible. Each unit is staffed by a director, clinical nurse expert, resource coordinator (also known as a charge nurse), registered nurses, clinical associates, business associates and team associates. These care teams are committed to making frequent visits to patients' rooms to help ensure their comfort and safety.

In addition to caring for general medical/surgical patients, each unit has staff that are competent to care for a particular medical specialty:

Tower 2 is a 36-bed telemetry unit that provides individualized care for adults with diverse chronic and acute conditions that are primarily cardiac-related, but also include neurological, CVAs and pulmonary. We do support a variety of critical non-titrated drips on this unit. There are 36 telemetry beds available for patients and are monitored by Unit Service Representatives (USR) on the department.

Tower 3 Tower 3 is a 36-bed unit designed to treat adult and geriatric patients with both acute and chronic conditions, with sub-specialties of oncology and renal failure. Telemetry beds are available for patients and are monitored by Unit Service Representatives (USR) on the unit.

Tower 4 is a 36-bed, private room, medical/surgical department that primarily cares for patients recovering from general, orthopedic, trauma and specialty surgeries. Some of the multi-specialty surgeries cared for post operatively are: total joint replacements, spine surgeries, urological procedures, bariatric cancer removal and vascular surgery. 16 telemetry beds are also available to monitor and support this patient population.

Tower 5 is a 36-bed, private room, medical/surgical patient care department that cares for patients being treated for general medical conditions, including acute stroke and patients recovering from surgery. 36 telemetry beds are available to monitor and support this patient population.

Med West Observation is a 38-bed unit designed to treat adult and geriatric patients with both acute and chronic conditions requiring short term observation by Registered Nurses. The observation stay is intended for short term diagnostic testing and monitoring, which are reasonable to evaluate the patient condition. This is done in order to determine the need to be admitted to the hospital as a hospital patient or be discharged to go home. Telemetry beds are available for patients and monitored by Unit Service Representatives (USR) on the unit.

2 West Medical is a 52-bed, semi-private room, medical/surgical unit that cares for adult and geriatric patients with both acute and chronic conditions. The unit has telemetry monitoring attached to 36 of the beds, which are monitored by Unit Service Representatives (USR) on the unit, and has two private isolation rooms. An experienced team of core and seasonal nursing staff manage this busy unit.
