Yuma, AZ - March 25, 2014 - The Snowbird Jammers presented the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center and Crossroads Mission with a check totaling $2,800 for program support. The Snowbird Jammers are a group of musicians playing oldies but goodies to raise funds for the Yuma community. In the last 14 years, the Snowbird Jammers have raised more than $87,000.

"The Snowbird Jammers entertained hundreds of individuals in January and February," says David Beckner, Showbird Jammers Committee. "Our musicians are comprised of winter visitors who are committed to giving back to the Yuma community. Each year 100 percent of the proceeds benefit our designated charities."

Money raised from the January Jam Session benefitted the Crossroads Mission, promoting their vision of being the foremost center of help for the homeless, addicted and families at risk in Yuma County. Crossroads Mission offers life-changing, individualized programs leading to stable employment and independent living.

The February Jam Session supported the Foundation of YRMC's School Health Care Program. The School Health Care Program provides free primary medical and dental care to children whose families lack health insurance. With sites located throughout Yuma County to include Rancho Viejo School, Pecan Grove School, San Luis and the East County Mobile Clinic and Dental Van, the School Health Care Program has served more than 18,000 children since its inception.

"We are deeply appreciative of the Snowbird Jammers," said Foundation of YRMC Executive Director Wayne Steffey. "No child should have any barriers to healthcare. Working together we will ensure underserved children in Yuma County children have access to health care resources."

Barbara Rochester of Crossroads Mission added, "It would be very difficult to do what we have to do on a daily basis without the generosity of groups like the Snowbird Jammers. They help turn lives around for those we serve."

The mission of the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center is to support a healthy community through philanthropy. Qualified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Foundation relies on donations to support community programs such as the School Health Care Program, healthcare scholarships, diabetes education, breast cancer screening and support, and the Y.O.U.T.H. Initiative. For more information, contact Serena Holthaus at 336-2445 or e-mail
