Kohl's Cares® grants $19,000 for injury prevention of Yuma children
Yuma, Ariz. (March 20, 2013) - Kohl's Department Stores, through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise program, will donate $19,191 to the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center at a free community car seat safety and child injury prevention event to be held on Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.. The check presentation will be at 11:30 a.m., in the Kohl’s parking lot at the Yuma Palms Regional Center.
The Kohl's Car Seat Safety Check event will have Safekids and Yuma Regional Medical Center certified car seat technicians available to inspect car and booster seats in vehicles to ensure that they are properly installed and positioned. In the United States, car crashes remain the number one cause of death among children ages three to 14 because of the improper use of car and booster seats, making it essential to ensure that all children are properly restrained when riding in a vehicle. The car seat safety check is part of the Kohl’s Child Safety Program, a program focused on reducing pediatric trauma through injury prevention. Since 2006, Kohl’s has gifted approximately $92,000 to the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center and its child injury prevention programs.
Kohl's commitment to the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships. Kohl's has raised more than $231 million dollars through this merchandise program.
