“We have a reached a very important financial milestone,” said Pat Walz, YRMC CEO. “This is good for the state and good for the citizens of Yuma County.”
As part of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA), YRMC embraces the opportunity to work in partnership with Gov. Brewer, the Legislature and the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) to ensure restoration and expansion of Medicaid using a hospital assessment is successfully implemented in a manner that protects patients, taxpayers and businesses.
"Thank you to our staff, physicians and community members who took the time to write their legislators regarding this important issue," said Walz. "It's because of these on-going efforts that the legislature approved restoration of Prop. 204 and the expansion of Medicaid."
The legislation will draw down federal assistance to provide cost-effective care to the working poor through the AHCCCS program. AHCCCS coverage will be extended to an additional 300,000 lowincome
Arizonans through 2016. It will also make Arizona eligible for matching funds of approximately $7.9 billion over the next four years.
