Yuma, AZ, March 11, 2014 — Yuma Regional Medical Center is partnering with Kohl's Department Stores to sponsor the Healthy Kids Program. The Kohl's Cares® donation of $19,295 will support the health and wellness of children and families in Yuma County.
The Healthy Kids program is a 12-week education program designed to teach kids and their families how to practice healthy habits to achieve better overall health. By working with a dietician, exercise physiologist and other healthcare professionals to learn about healthy lifestyle choices, families and children learn how to make small changes that lead to a lifetime of wellness. Fun activities such as Zumba, yoga, scavenger hunts, grocery store visits and a pedometer challenge encourage children to explore healthy alternatives and encourage physical activity.
"Yuma Regional Medical Center and the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center are excited and honored to again partner with Kohl's to promote health and wellness to families in our community," said Nicole Dallam, Wellness Coordinator at Yuma Regional Medical Center. "As a community hospital, we value the opportunity to work with families one-on-one, teaching them how to make healthy decisions that will impact their future."
Since 2006, Kohl's has donated more than $112,000 to the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center to support the health and wellness of families in Yuma County.
Kohl's commitment to Yuma Regional Medical Center is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl's sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children's health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $231 million dollars through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl's Cares® features the Kohl's Cares® Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $400,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohl's Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 669,000 associates have donated more than 2.2 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl's has donated more than $63 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations. Kohl's also offers fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations. For more information, visit www.Kohls.com/Cares.
