Three-level parking garage adds 394 spaces and easier access to hospital's main entrance
Yuma, AZ- July 9, 2014 - Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) has officially opened all three levels of its new patient/visitor parking garage today. The new garage adds 394 spaces off 24th Street and provides easier patient/patient family access to the main entrance of YRMC.
"Before the garage build, this parking area held 134 vehicles and patients and visitors were required to walk uphill to reach the main entrance of YRMC," said Nicolle Griffin, senior facility project manager at Yuma Regional Medical Center. "The garage now holds 260 more spaces and directly leads to the entrance of YRMC. This is a great addition to our campus as it is more convenient for patients and their families."
The contractor for the new patient/visit parking garage was McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Local subcontractors include Cemex, Desert Excavation, Haxton Masonry, Pacific Steel, Emerald Painting, Otis Elevator, American Fire Protection, Streamline Plumbing, Delta Diversified and BLT Ready-Mix. It took 11,000 tons or 22 million pounds of concrete to build the new parking garage. The top level of the garage opened in May 2014.
