How to Become a Patient & Family Partner Volunteer
YRMC is seeking volunteers who are willing to offer valuable input on how we can improve the care and services we provide to patients and their families. We are looking for volunteers of all ages -from teens to seniors -who have either experienced care at YRMC in the past two years or are a family member of a patient who has. The ideal Patient & Family Partner is someone who is a good listener, is dependable, and has a genuine desire to be of service to others.
Patient & Family Partners are asked to make an ongoing commitment of their time, whether it's once a week or once a month. After successfully completing the interview process, Partners are assigned to a specific department where they are encouraged to provide the staff with insights and observations from a consumer perspective. This input is extremely valuable because it can help influence the policies, programs and practices that affect the care and services that patients and their families receive at YRMC.
Partners may also have an opportunity to serve on the YRMC Patient Partner's Council a collaboration of 13 Patient Partners who actively work with YRMC staff to govern - and strengthen - the Patient & Family Partner Program. Partner's Council Members meet once a month and serve for a two-year term.
