What is the purpose of the community coach program?
The goal of the Community Coach Program is to create a “welcoming process” that guides new physicians and their families through the process of integration into our community.
What is a community coach?
- A Community Coach offers a safety net and support system for newly recruited physicians and their families.
- Assists them with connections in the local community, including retailers, professionals and neighbors. A Community Coach offers a personal connection in an otherwise highly stressful process.
- Basically their role is to “coach” them through the process of joining our community and make them feel welcome and comfortable like they already belong to the community!
How does the community coach program work?
Once a new physician has decided to relocate to Yuma, the recruitment team discusses the community coach program with the physician. If he/she would like to participate, then the recruitment team selects the perfect match from our pool of existing community coaches. The community coach is notified of the assignment and given the physician’s contact information to send an introductory email. Upon the real estate (house hunting) visit, we will schedule a lunch to make the connection between the physician and community coach. The recruitment team also schedules a Community Coach Mixer event once most of the physicians have relocated over the summer. Our team will continue to schedule outings and events to get new physicians and their families acquainted with the community and its members.
