Trauma and Fractures

Our skilled physicians are trained to provide you with the best care for fractures of the hip, pelvis, hand, foot and ankle.

The majority of bone and joint injuries are dislocations and fractures. If you experience either injury, it should be seen immediately by one of our fracture care specialists. Using an injured bone or joint may cause damage to it and the surrounding tissues, nerves and blood vessels.

Bone Fractures

Bone fractures are often caused by accidents and repetitive stress injuries, osteoporosis and tumors. The most common bone fractures are:

Closed/Simple Fracture
This fracture breaks the bone with the skin still intact.
Open/Compound Fracture
The open or compound fracture breaks the bone and perforates the skin at the time of fracture.
Segmental/Multiple Fracture
This fracture occurs when one bone breaks in two or more places.
Comminuted Fracture
The comminuted fracture shatters the bone into pieces.
