Social media-driven initiative encourages Yuma residents to share their gifts in life
Yuma, AZ – July 28, 2014 –In celebration of the opening of the new Yuma Regional Cancer Center, Yuma Regional Medical Center has launched the "My Gift - My Life" campaign, a social media-driven initiative encouraging Yuma residents to share photos of what they are grateful for in life.
"There are so many precious moments in life that we take for granted, but events in our lives, such as a cancer diagnosis, often have the power to make us take a step back and reevaluate what is meaningful and significant in our lives," said Machele Headington, vice president of communication and marketing at Yuma Regional Medical Center. "As a caregiver or family member your precious moment may be holding your loved one's hand during chemotherapy. As a cancer patient it may be watching your granddaughter graduate from college or a simple walk in the park. This is a campaign to encourage us all to recognize those special moments, celebrate them and share them with others."
The community is encouraged to hashtag #MyGiftMyLife when sharing a photo of life's precious moments on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Photos will be re-posted to YRMC's social media channels.
"This is a way for our community to celebrate life's gifts and the opening of the new Yuma Regional Cancer Center together," said Headington. "This is a facility built for this community and by this community. Just as we joined together to make this dream program a reality, we encourage the community to unite and celebrate comprehensive cancer care in Yuma together – a facility and services this community deserves."
The "My Gift - My Life" campaign will be ongoing until September 25, 2014. Participants are also encouraged to follow Yuma Regional Medical Center's social media channels: Facebook - Yuma Regional Medical Center; Twitter -@yumaregional and Instagram - @yumaregional.
