By looking at Anayeli Rodriguez, you'd never know the struggles she's faced in her young life. Like any other little girl, she loves her family, has a sweet spot for Hello Kitty and is an artist with a box of crayons. But dig a little deeper and you'll see maturity beyond her years; the type of maturity and heart that develops through survival. Her mother, Irma, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. This was a devastating blow to a family that already struggled to make ends meet. Even during times of little food or no electricity, the family held on to the firm belief that true value is found in the gift of each other.
Anayeli often accompanied her mother to Yuma Regional Cancer Center during her treatments and this is where she was encouraged by the nurse navigator to write her story. Through the partnership of Yuma Regional Cancer Center and the Bridget's Gift Fund, the Rodriguez family was able to receive critical support and resources needed during her battle with cancer. The lasting legacy of Bridget Martinez lives on through Bridget's Gift, a fund of the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center, by providing hope and inspiration to the Yuma community.
By sharing her story, Anayeli's dream is to provide hope to other families facing this difficult. With a goal of obtaining 10,000 signatures, you can show your support. Click the book below to read Anayeli's Story and be sure to sign her book here.
