(August 2, 2013 – Yuma, AZ) The Drive for School Supplies is continuing its efforts to prepare Yuma County Students for School. "The Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center received last minute requests from local schools bringing our total count from 4,500 to over 4,600 backpacks and school supplies," said Drive for School Supplies Committee Co-Chair Rachael Barkley. "Volunteers are quickly working to see that all schools have the necessary backpacks and supplies needed for their students," Co-Chair Tom Tyree added.
"The Foundation of YRMC and the Drive for School Supplies committee are committed to helping every student in need in Yuma County," said Foundation of YRMC Executive Director Wayne Steffey. "The Foundation still needs the community's help to ensure that all Yuma County students start the school year off right."
In addition to donated supplies of backpacks, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, 3-ring binders, folders, notebook paper, rulers, erasers and dictionaries, cash donations are also accepted. Through the Foundation of YRMC, each filled backpack costs $13. Donations can be made on-line at www.yumaregional.org, by calling the Foundation office at 928.336.7045 or by mailing a donation to the Foundation at 2400 S. Avenue A, Yuma, AZ 85364-7170. All donations are tax-deductible.
