Frequently Asked Questions

Need help finding the right coverage? We can help. Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that may assist you in your search:

What is the Health Insurance Exchange or Marketplace?
The Health Insurance Exchange is an online marketplace that creates a centralized location where individuals and small business owners can browse health insurance options. The Health Insurance Exchange was introduced as part of the Affordable Care Act, which is also known as “Obamacare.”

What if I already have Medicaid (AHCCCS) or Medicare?
AHCCCS is Arizona’s Medicaid program. To qualify for AHCCCS, an individual must have a low annual income, live in the state of Arizona and be a legal resident. If your income is too high to qualify for AHCCCS and you do not have health insurance from the federal government or your employer, you may qualify for subsidized coverage and must sign up for coverage in the Marketplace. If  you have AHCCCS, you do not need to apply for health insurance in Marketplace. If you have Medicare, you may qualify for AHCCCS as a secondary insurance plan.

When can I shop the Health Insurance Exchange?
The deadline is March 31, 2014.
January 16-February 15: coverage begins March 1
February 16-March 15: coverage begins April 1
March 16-31: coverage begins May 1

If you would like to change your plan in 2015 or if you do not make March 31 deadline, open enrollment for Marketplace will resume on October 1, 2014.

How do I know if the Marketplace Exchange is the best option for me and my family?
If you currently do not have health insurance and your employer does not offer health insurance coverage, the Marketplace may be a good option for you. The Marketplace Exchange provides subsidies for individuals and families, effectively lowering monthly premiums. The subsidies are on a sliding scale, so they decrease as your income increases.

If all providers fall within a PPO through Marketplace, how can I check to see if my doctor is in a plan’s network before I buy a plan?
Make a list of all the providers you use. Remember that both health care professionals such as doctors, psychologists, or physical therapists, and health care facilities, like hospitals, urgent care clinics, or pharmacies are considered providers. Then check with each individual provider to see if they are part of the network.

How do I enroll or find out more information about the Health Insurance Exchange?
• Visit www.healthcare.gov or www.cuidadodesalud.gov or call 1.800.318.2596. Please provide basic information, including age and state of residence

For assistance in applying for Marketplace, call Yuma Regional Outpatient Clinics Monday-Friday 8am-5pm at 928.336.7095 to schedule an appointment.
