Cardiac Rehabilitation strengthens the heart after heart surgery or a heart attack and is essential for recovery. It helps patients improve endurance through a comprehensive program of education and exercise.
Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team includes registered nurses, exercise physiologists, a respiratory therapist and a physician. Cardiac rehabilitation often begins in the hospital with education and continues as an outpatient for three days a week for up to 12 weeks. It includes medically supervised exercise classes and education on nutrition, stress management, safe and effective use of medications, diabetes and fitness.
The YRMC program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is for patients suffering from respiratory disease. It features a twice-a-week comprehensive exercise and education program for 9 weeks. The goal is to help patients increase energy and activity levels, reduce shortness of breath, learn about their disease, manage oxygen and maintain smoking cessation.
Medical Fitness Program is a medically supervised exercise program for those with chronic diseases.
