Care Philosophy

I provide empathetic, compassionate care. I consider all my patients as individuals. It’s important for me to find out what their story is—to listen to them in order to gain trust. It’s the only way that you can really figure out what’s going on with your patient, by listening.

Dr. N. Ogechi Abara is a family medicine physician with a love for teaching and community engagement, as well as a special interest in marginalized communities and the care of older adults. Her experiences provide her a good understanding of integrative medicine, which she uses in treating patients with holistic, nurturing and clinically sound medical care.

Dr. Abara attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados. She completed her family medicine residency and geriatric medicine fellowship at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in Galveston, TX.

When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Abara enjoys working out, running, swimming, listening to music, playing the piano, singing and writing poetry.
