Margaret Russell, M.D. joined the faculty of the Yuma Regional Medical Center Family & Community Medicine Program in August of 2016. She received her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed her residency in Family and Community Medicine at University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas, NV. After practicing rural family medicine for several years, joining the teaching faculty at Yuma Regional Medical Center was a natural progression for her, as prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Russell was a high school science teacher. She also served as an assistant clinical professor with the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, NV, teaching medical students and residents on their rural rotations. Dr. Russell looks forward to sharing her diverse experience with rural medicine in Nevada and Idaho with the residents.
She grew up in northern Idaho where she came to love hiking, swimming and snow skiing. Dr. Russell also enjoys sketching with pastels, sewing quilts, trying new recipes and playing the guitar. Best of all, she loves to meet new people, make new friends and travel the world. Family has always been central for Dr. Russell, and she prides herself on being number one auntie to 30 nieces and nephews.
