Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) is excited to extend primary care to its neighbors living in the Yuma Foothills and the communities of East Yuma County.
To meet the needs of everyone from families to retirees, YRMC Primary Care-Foothills will soon open at 11142 S. Scottsdale Drive. The clinic will offer a walk-in clinic and primary care, along with laboratory and imaging services.
YRMC Primary Care-Foothills, which is set to open on Saturday, Nov. 3, marks a long-awaited step both for YRMC and the patients who will be served by the expanded services.
“For the past several years, we have focused on making sure our main campus facilities are well-positioned to serve our community for decades to come. Now we are looking at how we can extend services closer to where our patients reside,” said Justin Farren, Vice President of Ambulatory Operations for YRMC. “Within the last year, we’ve opened YRMC Primary Care-San Luis in the southwestern corner of the county and now we are honored to open this clinic for everyone from the Foothills and Yuma Proving Ground to Tacna, Wellton, Roll and Dateland.”
The clinic is located just east of the intersection of Interstate 8 and Fortuna Road. The facility served in the recent past as the home to YRMC Diagnostic Imaging-Foothills and PrimeCare. The building has since been completely revamped with a fresh, new look and feel. To help guide that redesign – plus assist in choosing and shaping the services offered – YRMC turned to the wisdom of several focus groups, with members ranging from young women with children to retired community members. The Foothills community helped to shape its new clinic from the very beginning.
“We are excited to offer the added convenience of this beautiful clinic, but we are even more excited about the walk-in nature of YRMC Primary Care-Foothills,” Farren said. “We are looking to blur the traditional lines between urgent care and primary care. Patients just want to be seen when they have a need, so starting out we will be open 7 days a week, accepting walk-in patients for anything that someone might have gone to an urgent care facility.”
By early next year, the clinic will begin to accept both scheduled and non-scheduled patient visits. “That means if that you can come in with an urgent need and then follow up with scheduled appointments at that same clinic,” Farren explained.
Having comprehensive services in one location will also mean convenience for primary care patients who need laboratory tests or imaging services, such as x-rays or mammograms. Also, since the clinic is connected to YRMC’s medical records system, patients at the new primary care clinic will experience improved exchange of information if they then have to be seen somewhere else within the YRMC family of clinics.
“All of this further solidifies the organization’s commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of the community we serve, no matter where you live,” Farren said.

To celebrate the clinic’s Grand Opening, families are invited to YRMC Primary Care-Foothills on Saturday, December 1 for a very special Teddy Bear Clinic. Children are encouraged to bring their own teddy bear for a checkup or take home one of 500 teddy bears that will be given away from 9 a.m. to noon during the event.
