MyCare Keeps Getting Better

Connected patients are healthier patients.
 

That’s why Yuma Regional Medical Center encourages patients to use MyCare. It’s a valuable resource offering personalized and secure online access to portions of patients’ medical records. Our most recent improvements make MyCare even better. A new feature allows patients to see visit notes after services by YRMC providers. When you receive care outside of YRMC, you can upload pdf files of images and visit notes from those exams. We’ve made it easier to share your MyCare information with a loved one. And now, you can even get started without an activation code. To begin, access MyCare by visiting mycare.yumaregional.org. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

“The biggest goal of MyCare is to empower patients in managing their health,” said Dr. Sarah Kramer, Chief Medical Information Officer at YRMC. “It’s no exaggeration to say that MyCare users are healthier, feel more knowledgeable and optimistic about their medical conditions and are more likely to stay out of the hospital.”

With MyCare, patients can:

  • Create a new account and access their information today
  • View visit summaries, reminders and doctor instructions
  • View medications, immunizations, allergies and medical history
  • Review lab results
  • Request an appointment with a participating physician office
  • Receive appointment reminders
  • Send secure messages to a participating physician office
  • Access trusted health information resources
  • Pay medical bills
  • Grant access to trusted family members with Share Everywhere
  • Upload medical imaging and visit notes from exams outside of YRMC                                        

“The more that our patients get care from providers within the YRMC system, or those independent clinics that offer MyCare, the more likely they will be able to see all of their key health information in one place,” Dr. Kramer explained.

All patients treated at a YRMC-affiliated clinic or service can visit mycare.yumaregional.org, set up an account, and start tapping into this valuable service. MyCare also offers proxy access for parents and guardians of child patients, as well as loved ones who are advocating for adult patients. This added function ensures that caregivers are fully informed about their loved one’s health needs and care plan.

“Patients really like being able to see their lab test results, which is almost always the same day they are done,” said Dr. Kramer. “I had a personal experience recently where I saw my test results before my doctor’s office did. I was able to get more timely advice as to what it meant, along with my next steps.”

YRMC launched MyCare in 2012 and the service has been continuously improved since then. The visit notes transparency feature, Open Notes, debuts to let you read the visit note your doctor creates after each visit.

“As doctors, we know that it’s difficult for patients to remember everything they’re told during medical visits,” Dr. Kramer said. “Open Notes will allow patients to review everything that was discussed, improving the likelihood that they will remember more critical instructions and follow-up advice.”

Patients who’ve not tried MyCare yet can use direct signup. Calling YRMC to request an activation code is no longer necessary. Just visit https://mycare.yumaregional.org. Once you’ve set up your portal, you also have the option to download the MyChart app by Epic to your Apple or Android smartphones and devices. Just visit the App Store or GooglePlay and search for MyChart by Epic. Then associate the app with your YRMC MyCare account.
