Forbes honors YRMC as Best Employer

Forbes magazine recently honored Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) as being one of Arizona’s best employers, naming Yuma’s community hospital among 72 top employers with 500 or more employees.

“We are honored to be included in such a prestigious list of Arizona-based and national companies,” said Dr. Robert Trenschel, President and CEO of YRMC. “YRMC values employee-driven process improvement. Over the past two years, YRMC employees have come together to collectively make our organization even better.”

Dr. Trenschel says he attributes many of YRMC’s recent successes to improvements identified by font-line employees.

“We believe those results come from creating an environment where employees are encouraged to find innovative solutions that matter in their daily work, and ultimately, to the patients we serve,” the President and CEO said. “People want to work where their ideas and input are valued.”

Input from employees also drives the structure of our employee total rewards. “We believe employees are the heart of this organization,” Dr. Trenschel said. “We are always seeking to remain competitive in our benefits including immediate vesting in our 401k with a generous match and an employee wellness program that includes 1:1 health coaching.”

Nationwide, Forbes’ annual listing named 1,430 companies as being best employers.

Forbes ranked YRMC as No. 30 among the 72 honored Arizona companies, placing the Yuma not- for-profit ahead of major organizations such as APS, Arizona State University and City of Tucson. Other healthcare organizations included in the list are Mayo Clinic, HonorHealth and Dignity Health.

With an average of 2,600 employees, YRMC represents Yuma County’s largest nongovernment employer. YRMC ranks No. 75 among the largest 100 employers in Arizona. The medical center contributes an estimated $500 million annually to the local economy.

Forbes worked with a firm called Statista to survey Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. The anonymous surveys asked employees to rate how likely they would recommend their employer to others. The final list ranks the 1,400-plus employers across the national that received the greatest number of recommendations.
