Mentor Me M.D. Program

Are you a current Yuma Regional Medical Center student volunteer pursing a degree in healthcare? We invite you to learn more about this growing field by applying to join Mentor Me M.D., our student medical mentor program. YRMC’s Family and Community Medicine Residency Program has teamed up with our Volunteer Services staff to create this unique opportunity. It helps young adults experience many exciting health care career opportunities, first hand.

As a member of the Mentor Me M.D. program, you’ll interact with medical professionals, patients and clinical staff as you learn about many aspects of the medical field. You’ll also learn about the professional development paths required to achieve specific career goals.

Applicants for this program must be willing to commit to attending 1-2 sessions each month and be active participants in these two-hour meetings. In addition, they must commit to volunteering two hours each week during the program. The program will begin the last week in February and meeting days and times will be set to accommodate as many members of the group as possible. Applicants must also be available to volunteer for special projects such as flu shot clinics and health fairs.

Program Eligibility/Requirements:

Each applicant for the program must be an undergraduate college student or high school junior or senior who currently volunteers at YRMC. To apply, please submit the following:

  • A completed Mentor Me M.D. Program Application
  • A current resume which also includes your volunteer service at YRMC
  • An essay of 500 words or less describing: “What attracts you to a career in health care?”
