Meet Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Team


Evren Kaynak, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Kaynak has been serving as the medical director of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation since 2016. He received his medical degree from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine at University of Texas in Houston. He completed his fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Beach, FL. He practices at Yuma Cardiac Center.

Jamie Legan-Leon, R.N.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Resource Coordinator & Exercise Physiologist

Jamie began her career as an Exercise Physiologist working in Corporate Wellness in the Phoenix area in 1999. She received her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology with minor in Wellness from Arizona State University. A Kofa High School graduate, Jamie returned to Yuma in 2000 and worked at Southwest Rehab and Advanced Prosthetics and Orthotics before returning to school to complete her nursing degree from Arizona Western College in 2004. Jamie began her nursing career at Yuma Regional Medical Center in 2004 working in the cardiac unit on Tower 2 before joining the Cardiac Rehab team in December 2005. She was promoted to her current role as Resource Coordinator in spring of 2013. While working at YRMC she has been on the hospital’s Wellness Committee, has served as an educator in YRMC’s Healthy Kids program and has been involved as a board member for Arizona Society of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (ASCVPR). In 2009 she was awarded YRMC’s Super Star award. In 2014, Jamie earned her Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She enjoys the long-term relationships she builds with her patients in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and seeing the progress that they make with their fitness and health on a daily basis.

Connie Fike

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Connie Fike, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), has lived in Yuma for nearly 50 years serving 36 years at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Connie received a Respiratory Therapy Certificate from Biosystems Institute in Phoenix, AZ, before becoming a RRT. Connie’s expertise extends beyond working in Cardiac Rehabilitation as she has worked in various areas of YRMC, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). For the past six years she has worked in the Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation areas. In 2009 she was awarded YRMC’s Super Star award. Connie enjoys spending quality time with patients and seeing the results that the Cardiac Rehabilitation program can bring to their lives. She also enjoys teaching stress management educational sessions.

Chrissy Keddy, B.S.

Exercise Physiologist

A graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology, Chrissy started working for Yuma Regional Medical Center as an intern in Cardiac Rehabilitation. Following her internship, Chrissy worked in YRMC’s Emergency Department before returning to Cardiac Rehabilitation in 2010. Originally from Hampshire, IL, just outside of Chicago, Chrissy and her husband opted for a warmer climate and made Yuma their home in 2008. She enjoys establishing a personal relationship with her patients and seeing them continue their exercise by joining the hospital’s maintenance program. When not at work, Chrissy enjoys spending time with her husband Andy and their two children.

Jacob Montchal,. B.S.

Exercise Physiologist

A Yuma native, Jake was excited to return home after earning his degree in exercise science at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Before joining the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team full time in 2016 as an exercise physiologist, Jake volunteered in the department. He loves getting to know his patients and finding ways to make their rehabilitation experience fun and enjoyable. In his spare time, Jake is also a performance trainer at a local gym.

Amanda Garcia, M.S.

Exercise Physiologist

Amanda graduated from Lake Superior State University in Michigan, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. She also minored in both health and fitness and golf coaching. She completed an internship at Yuma Regional Medical Center in cardiopulonary rehabilitation prior to her graduation. Amanda received her Masters of Science in Health Care Delivery from Arizona State University. She was a collegiate golfer and track athlete, and now coaches the women’s golf team at Kofa High School. Amanda enjoys working with her patients and helps them make lifestyle changes to help them improve their health. 

Norma Gallego

Scheduler/Registration Educator

Norma is our Scheduler by morning Education by evening. She has over 25 years at YRMC with experience in customer service, scheduling, leadership, and education. On her spare time she helps volunteer at her local church and enjoys cooking. A Yuma native, mother of two sons currently serving in the military. Norma is the “helping hand” in our team.
