Our Family Medicine Team


We’re proud of our outstanding medical team at the Yuma Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Center, and we invite you to meet our team and get to know them:


Steven Anderson, M.D.

After being in private practice in Yuma for 30 years, Dr. Steven Anderson joined Yuma Regional Medical Center's Family Medicine Center as a faculty member of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program. In addition to treating patients at the Family Medicine Center, Dr. Anderson serves as a teaching faculty member for the family medicine residents and serves as Medical Director of the Family Medicine Center. Dr. Anderson received his medical degree from the University of Alabama and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Florida Hospital in Orlando and Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee. Dr. Anderson is fluent in Spanish and French. In his free time, he enjoys golf, bicycling, fishing and family activities.


Kristina Diaz, M.D.

Returning to Yuma after completing her education and residency has been a wonderful experience for Dr. Diaz. A graduate of Yuma High School, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona and her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was appointed chief resident of her class.

Dr. Diaz enjoys caring for the entire family, but her true passion is caring for women and children. As a faculty member for our residency program, she precepts in all areas of our medical specialty. She enjoys traveling, reading, quilting and spending time with her family.


Lorena Jauregui, M.D.

Born and raised in Mexico, Dr. Lorena Jauregui is a graduate of Universidad Autonoma de Baja California Medical School in Mexicali. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago where she received the Intern of the Year Award. Dr. Jauregui worked in a community health center in Washington State for eight years, providing the full spectrum of outpatient and inpatient adult medicine. She moved to Yuma in 2003 and accepted a position as medical director in a family medicine clinic and then as a solo practitioner. Dr. Jauregui joined the Family and Community Medicine Residency program in 2013. She enjoys exercise, in particular, kick boxing and biking, as well as camping and traveling with her husband and three children.



Natalia Galarza, M.D.

Dr. Natalia Galarza was born in Durango, Mexico, but grew up near Yuma, in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. Inspiring her interest in becoming a doctor was her mother, who works as a family physician in San Luis Rio Colorado. Dr. Galarza attended medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, located in Mexicali, Baja California. She graduated with honors.She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Yuma Regional Medical Center, where she had the honor of being in the program’s very first graduating class.

She has worked on both side of the international border as a physician, which gives her a first-hand understanding of this region’s unique healthcare challenges. That experience has also inspired her deep passion for Yuma County and the health of its residents. Dr. Galarza says she considers herself an adopted Yuman, as her husband and children are proud Yumans. She believes in Family Medicine as a whole and loves the bond that this specialty allows physicians to have with their patients. As a faculty member serving YRMC’s Family Medicine Program, Dr. Galarza sees her purpose as being there to help the growing program reach its full potential, all while improving the health of the community and advancing family medicine outreach.



Nada Alsaiegh, M.D.

Dr. Alsaiegh was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq and moved to the U.S. while in high school. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Health at St. George's University School of Public Health in Grenada and her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. Following medical school, she held a position as a clinical research associate at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and most recently graduated from Yuma Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. Upon graduation, Dr. Alsaigh joined the Family Medicine Residency Program as a faculty member. She practices at Yuma Regional Medical Center as a hospitalist and at YRMC's Family Medicine Center. 

Dr. Alsaiegh believes her vast life and educational experiences have prepared her well for her career in family medicine. In the future, Nada plans to spend some of her free time offering international, humanitarian medical services to the underserved. She is fluent in both English and Arabic.  


Joseph D. Hogue, M.D. 

Dr. Hogue was born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi. He received his medical degree with highest honors at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts. He has also received a Masters of Business in Healthcare Administration from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In the past, Dr. Hogue has worked in corporate medical management and most recently graduated from Yuma Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program. Upon graduation, Dr. Hogue joined the Family Medicine Residency Program as a faculty member. He practices at Yuma Regional Medical Center as a hospitalist and at YRMC's Family Medicine Center. 

Dr. Hogue is a member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians and American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Hogue enjoys while volunteering his time in the community, sports, working out, riding horses and being outdoors.

April Hann, N.P. 

April Hann, N.P. received her Masters of Science in Nursing through a collaborative program with George Mason University in Fairfax, VA and George Washington University School of Medicine and Health in Washington, DC. April is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). 

April believes in taking care of the patient as a whole: mind, body, and spirit. In her spare time, she loves  scuba diving and underwater photography. April also enjoys riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle. In the community, she oversees a local missionary program called OCJ Kids that collects donated supplies for children living in foster care.

Cherice Curtis, N.P.

Cherice Curtis began her nursing career in 1995, when she graduated from Arizona Western College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.  She completed her Bachelor’s in Nursing at Northern Arizona University in 2003, followed by her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2006. She obtained her Family Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate from Grand Canyon University in 2015, graduating with honors. 

Cherice joined the YRMC family in 1993. During her time at YRMC she has worked on the medical surgical unit, adult cardiac unit, pediatrics, NICU and as a certified diabetes educator.  She furthered her education to become a nurse practitioner to better serve the Yuma community.  Cherice believes in treating all patients in an ethical and nurturing way, showing compassion and respect for their individual healthcare needs.  

Richard Caguin, N.P.

Richard Caguin graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Master of Science in Nursing. He is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner at Yuma Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Center.
