Pediatric Endocrinology

Children with diabetes need extra special attention and care. The pediatric endocrinology team understands the complications and challenges facing children and families living with diabetes.
Our team works to help children:

  • Live an active and engaged in life
  • Keep diabetes controlled
  • Stay out of the hospital
Our expert endocrinologist treats patients while working alongside our child-friendly team members, including a certified diabetes educator, dietitian and social worker. We offer focused, compassionate education and training to help children and adolescents be healthy.

Whether your child lives with type 1, type 2, medication-induced or maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY), we work to help your child thrive. You and your child can better manage living and flourishing with diabetes through the mentoring and outpatient education we incorporate into clinic visits. We will explore tools to assist with your diabetes management, such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitor training.

In addition to diabetes, our pediatric endocrinology team provides care for the full range of child and adolescent hormone-related conditions.

Lifestyle and Weight Management for Youth

Nationwide, children's diets have changed, and their activity levels have decreased. Yuma-area children are no different. Many patients appreciate support and medical help to manage their diet and weight. The Yuma Regional Medical Center Pediatric Endocrinology team offers health management resources including medical and lifestyle assessments and nutritional counseling related to weight management.

Most treatment plans include one or more of the following:

  • Lifestyle changes to diet and exercise
  • Over-the-counter therapies
  • Prescription medications
  • Referrals to additional specialists and clinical partners
  • Care coordination with the child's pediatrician and other care providers
