Dr. Candice Jensen

Candice M. Jensen, M.D. 

Dr. Jensen is a fellowship trained general surgeon who specializes in bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgery. She has been Yuma's leader in weight loss surgery for more than a decade, performing more than 1,000 bariatric procedures. Board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Jensen is the founder of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Yuma Regional Medical Center. She has a proven record for achieving exceptional outcomes.

Dr. Jensen has also served as clinical instructor in Minimally Invasive Surgery at UCLA Medical Center, and has published articles in journals such as Surgery of Obesity and Related Diseases, The American Surgeon, Journal of Diabetes Technology and Bariatric Times. Her research has been presented at UCLA Medical Center, Kern Medical Center, Southern California American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Jensen completed her residency at Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester, a community hospital affiliate of New York Medical College, and at the University of Arizona Medical School. Dr. Jensen received her fellowship training from the University of California Medical School in Los Angeles, California (UCLA).

Rebecca Adame

Director of Clinical Operations

Rebecca oversees Bariatric and Outpatient Nutrition Services. She joined the Case Management Department of Yuma Regional Medical Center in 2001 and opened the Yuma Regional Medical Center Bariatric Surgery Program with Dr. Candice Jensen in May 2009.

Skylar Hand, Dietitian

Skylar Hand

Registered Dietitian

As a Registered Dietitian, Skylar performs nutritional assessments, dietary consultations and both pre and post-operative education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Arizona in 2014. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2015.

Skylar and her husband, who serves in the U.S. Army, recently relocated to Yuma from Georgia. She is happy to now be back in Arizona, the state where she was born and raised.
