Preparing for Your Surgery

Whether you are being scheduled for a minimally invasive procedure or traditional surgery, you will receive a pre-op phone call to go over any instructions you need to follow and to answer any questions you may have. Also during that phone call, the pre-surgery laboratory work you need to have completed (if any) will be scheduled. Your lab work and pre-op procedures will be performed at Pre-Admissions Testing located in the main lobby of Yuma Regional Medical Center. On the day of your scheduled procedure, your pre-op preparation and surgery will take place on a special women’s floor within Women’s Surgical Services and you will remain there during your recovery.

If you are a maternity patient, all of your lab work and pre-op procedures will be performed in the Labor and Delivery area where you will remain for your delivery and recovery.

We invite you to review our Family Guide for Women’s Surgical Services which includes answers to questions you may have and important resources to help you prepare for surgery.

Please note that in order to protect the health and safety of our patients in the Women & Children Services department, special rules apply to visitors:

For security reasons, visitors must present a valid photo ID at the front desk prior to entering the unit and will be given a visitor pass.

  • Only two visitors will be allowed to visit a patient at one time, not including the patient’s spouse or partner or the patient’s children, stepchildren, grandchildren or siblings.
  • Visitors must be at least five years of age unless they are a child, stepchild, grandchild or sibling of the patient.

Thank you for honoring our visitor’s policies which are designed to protect the safety of our patients and promote a true healing environment. If you have any questions regarding our visiting policies, please ask one of our care providers to assist you.
