Education & Professional Highlights

Dr. Julian Nicholas came to Yuma in 2015, bringing 15 years of outstanding experience along with his compassionate personality to our community.

As a youth growing up in British-administered Hong Kong, he would accompany his mother as she cared for refugees from Southeast Asia. That humanitarian service and his academic success in biology and science during his years attending college in London opened the doors to medical school at the University College London. He then completed a Ph.D. at the University of Oxford.

Dr. Nicholas completed his internal medicine residency at Mayo Clinic. During his residency, a rotation in digestive and liver health prompted him to choose gastroenterology as his specialty. After pursuing the three-year gastroenterology fellowship at the Scripps Clinic, he hired on there to practice full-time. Dr. Nicholas’s expertise also allowed him to serve as a medical officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and later direct clinical trials with the Quintiles clinic research organization.

In his free time, Dr. Nicholas enjoys walking, reading and crossword puzzles.
