Behavioral & Mental Health | Press Release

Supporting an important health need in our community.

As part of a multi-pronged plan to expand the availability of local healthcare services, Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) is announcing plans to open a new inpatient behavioral health hospital in Yuma.

The project is in partnership with Horizon Health, a national leader in the behavioral health field. “Behavioral health is a top identified need in our community. Our goal is to deliver care close to home and minimize the need to travel whenever possible,” said Dr. Robert Trenschel, President and CEO of YRMC. “With Horizon Health’s industry expertise and our local care team, we are working to ensure that high-quality mental services are available locally.”

With a specialized care team, the YRMC Behavioral Health Center is slated to open this winter with 12 inpatient care beds, expanding to 24 beds soon after. Services will include adult psychiatric inpatient care, intensive outpatient care and a medical detox program. The space is designed to provide a warm, welcoming environment where patients can safely receive the care, compassion and attention they need.
“Expanding behavioral health services in Yuma County embodies the work we are doing to improve healthcare in our region,” said Deb Aders, RN, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services. “YRMC Behavioral Health Center will be part of a new array of services offered over the next several years. This is an important step in our community’s collective work to address the mental health needs of the people we serve,” Aders adds.

YRMC Behavioral Health Center is located off 32nd Street, 7201 E. 31st Place.
