Yuma Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2023 Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA) Quality Award for its dedication to patient-centered care and advancement of healthcare in Yuma.

YRMC was honored with the Community Engagement award in the category of general acute care hospitals. This award recognizes healthcare institutions that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to community involvement, aiming to improve access to healthcare services and enhance the overall health of the community.

“We are deeply honored to be a recipient of this AzHHA Quality Award. It’s a testament to our commitment to improving healthcare for the community. We believe in putting patients and their families at the center of all we do, and this award reflects the dedication of our incredible team who work tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve,” said Machele Headington, SVP of Marketing and Communications. “We’re grateful, but also acknowledge that there is still work to do. It inspires us to continue our mission of delivering the highest quality care and improving the well-being of our community.”

This accomplishment is attributed to YRMC’s project, “Keeping Patient-Centered Care in the Community.” This initiative was aimed at improving the care experience for children with complex medical conditions and their families. The project has helped improve the experience of oncology patients who visit the Emergency Department by implementing “Know Me Cards,” creating full-time patient navigator positions, collaborating with home health, pediatrics, and the infusion center, and offering free flights from volunteer pilots. These efforts led to a streamlined care process, resulting in increased efficiency and an overall better experience for the patients.

AzHHA announced the winners of its inaugural Quality Awards at the 2023 Quality Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023. These awards were established to recognize leaders in Arizona committed to advancing healthcare through exceptional quality performance, community engagement and a culture of continuous improvement.

“The quality of submissions and winners reflect the tremendous work that is happening in our communities across the state,” said Ann-Marie Alameddin, president, and CEO of AzHHA. “Congratulations to our award winners who are working every day to pursue excellence in quality and patient safety.”
