This February, Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) and Visit Yuma are teaming up to infuse the community with motivation and awareness in celebration of Heart Health Month through their vibrant campaign, #YumaHasHeart. This upbeat community-driven initiative aims to inspire Yuma residents and its visitors to adopt heart-healthy habits, understanding the importance of heart health and highlighting some of Yuma’s favorite locations and activities.

“#YumaHasHeart is all about embracing the heart of our community, which is our beautiful people and landscape,” says Machele Headington, SVP of Marketing and Communications at Yuma Regional Medical Center. “The campaign sets out not just to encourage physical activity, but to inspire a cultural shift towards adopting heart-healthy habits that contribute to overall well-being. With amazing outdoor activities, beautiful weather, and great seasonal fruits and vegetables available, the timing for this campaign couldn’t be more perfect!”

To kick off this heartwarming campaign, YRMC and Visit Yuma are excited to launch at the upcoming Yuma Wellness & Care Fair on January 27 at the Yuma Civic Center. The first 500 attendees to visit YRMC’s booth will be gifted a red, special edition “Hello. I am Yuma” t-shirt, setting the tone for a month-long celebration of heart health. Alongside this, attendees will receive information detailing the exciting contests lined up throughout February, fostering a sense of engagement and community spirit.

Campaign Highlights

Show Your Heart/#YumaHasHeart Contest:

Businesses and individuals are encouraged to share photos of engaging in heart-healthy activities while wearing red shirts. Participants can tag @yumaregional and @visityuma and use the hashtag #YumaHasHeart. Winners, selected every Friday, will receive exciting red prizes such as a red Stanley cup, red Beats earbuds or a red JBL portable speaker.

Heart Care Team Video Features:

Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) will feature providers from its heart-related care teams in short videos. The videos will showcase each team member wearing a red “Hello. I am Yuma.” t-shirt, sharing their favorite heart-healthy activities. These videos will be shared on social media channels.

Red Shirt Adventures:

Visit Yuma will capture individuals participating in Yuma-unique activities wearing their red shirts. Photos will be shared on social channels throughout February, showcasing activities such as pickleball, paddleboard yoga, golf, roller derby and walking along the river.

Healthy Bites in Town:

Visit Yuma will collaborate with select restaurants to feature heart-healthy menu items throughout February. Branded table tents supplied by YRMC and Visit Yuma will be displayed at these establishments, with a different restaurant highlighted every Tuesday.

Visit Yuma Giveaway:

Visit Yuma’s app will showcase heart-healthy restaurants and activities throughout February. Participants can explore and win a gift card to a featured restaurant by completing a specified number of activities.
