From newborns to grandparents, we’re dedicated to caring for your entire family when you need it most.
Doing everything possible to help our patients regain their abilities after cancer treatment is an important part of our commitment to offering the very best in cancer care at Yuma Regional Medical Center Cancer Center. These services are available to make it convenient for our patients to receive the rehabilitative services they need without having to travel far from home. Our rehabilitation specialists offer a variety of services to meet the needs of our patients, including lymphedema and speech language therapy.
Patients who are diagnosed with cancer involving the head and neck often experience compromised communication skills and swallowing function. These patients may undergo surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy and these treatments can further undermine functional movement of the mouth, throat, larynx and tongue. Speech language therapy focuses on educating the patient on anticipated side effects of the cancer or treatment received. Patients who are educated in use of exercises to keep the orofacial structures moving during treatment typically have significantly better functional outcomes at the end of their treatment.
If you have questions about rehabilitative services or would like to schedule an appointment, please call 928-317-2518 and select option 4.
